I have enjoyed these in the past but the two I've purchased recently have been overly sweet and almost grainy. I also was surprised in the store that they are not refrigerated or on ice. They had been frozen though. I will not be purchasing again.
Excellent dessert. Freeze it in a vacuum seal bag and it will last forever. When entertaining, just defrost, slice and serve. I put 1/2 jigger of cognac on it for a heavy duty dessert.
If you have had a real pumpkin roll made from scratch like my great grandma used to make, this is going to be a big disappointment. The cake is very dense. It has a very heavy pumpkin flavor and the cream is too sweet. I used to work at Kroger in the bakery. I can tell you from tasting them, that Kroger's pumpkin rolls are way better and taste like the real thing. I think I will stick to getting my pumpkin rolls from Kroger from now on.
Not worth my time or money Poor quality ingredients and it did not tast good . I took one bite and did not like it . not like Dutch country pumpkin roll cake that Walmart used to carrie ,will never every buy this again Gave it to my neighbor she will eat anything
I reeeally wanted to like this pumpkin cake roll. I am a huge fan of pumpkin flavor/spice and cream cheese! The outer layer of the cake is dry, with the inner layers being a bit more moist. The pumpkin and spice flavors are definitely present; however, they don't "pop" because they are muted and overpowered by the filling, which is way too sweet. There is no cream cheese flavor to the filling; only an overly-sweet powdered-sugar-frosting taste that has a thin, rather than creamy-thick, consistency. If you don't like really sweet frostings and fillings, and like me, prefer the tangy tartness of cream cheese and sour cream, then I believe you aren't going to like this pumpkin cake roll. I am glad I tried it now, at the beginning of the autumn season. We will be making our own from scratch for the holidays this year.
