I bought these for stairs and it does work for the most part, but not as sturdy as I would've hoped.
Not so easy to use. If I had had the opportunity to use this item before purchasing I would NOT have purchased this gate. I am not sure I will be able to use it because it has to be permanently mounted.
This gate is very easy to open and was easy for my husband to install (hard mounted), it only took him about 10 minutes. My favorite feature though is that my son can't stick his arms through the gate because the gate has no slots, it is all one see through piece. I would highly recommend this product. It is also very well priced for the quality.
Over all I love this gate. We use it at the top of the stairs, the only problem we had was finding studs to screw it into but it took about twenty minutes to hang and was pretty easy. It looks nice and I kicked it as hard as I could five or six times and it's not going anywhere.
I bought this gate b/c it had good reviews and was inexpensive for being a walk-through gate. It took my husband an hour to set it up and he is very good with things like that. It was difficult b/c of the baseboard molding and not having perfectly straight walls. He had to actually cut into the molding and use the spacers provided. After he got it set up, we were worried our 4 and 6 year old wouldn't be able to open it, but they can do it. It isn't easy for them, but they are able to do it. Also, when you put up the stopper which shows you were to line the gate up when closing it, it makes it harder to swing the gate both ways. It doesn't seem very sturdy, but our baby is only 10 months and hasn't yet tried to destroy anything. Hopefully she never will. I don't see how this gate could stand up to a destructive 2-year-old though.
