To prepare for C.Q.B. situations, Force Recon teams are trained in special tactics for enclosed spaces, including weapons handling, advanced marksmanship skills, target identification and extraction of hostages. One of the techniques Marines in Force Recon teams learn is to enter an area by the fast rope technique, which is sliding down a rope in a fast, controlled descent, so that they can get to the ground immediately and continue their mission.
