I am an amateur woodworker and use this product for other things than floors. I recently used it on some large railings on our stairs. Rather than strip and sand them down, I was able to clean them up and apply this acrylic finish over the old stain and varnish. Saved me tons of work and they look great again. Just today I used it on an old cabinet top with similar results. Why didn't I discover this finish years ago (maybe it's new?) One huge advantage with this finish is that it is removable. If you don't like the results, a little ammonia in water will dissolve it. It has many of the advantages of a varnish without the commitment and mess. I have yet to actually use it as the only finish coat over a stain on a new piece of furniture. But I'm pretty sure it will hold up well enough to be worth the try.
