Acer ICONIA Tab 10.1" Touchscreen 2-in-1 Laptop, AMD C-Series C-50, 2GB RAM, 32GB SSD, Windows 7 Home Premium, W500-C52G03iss

Purchased to coincide with my Windows based graphics business to allow easy project review with clients. Android & iPad do not allow easy document transfers without going through conversions to PDF and tethered loading. I can transfer files to the Acer W500 via Wi-Fi or thumbdrive. A bonus: Installed Windows 8 Consumer preview (replacing Win 7) which operates faster than Win 7 and connects readily to my Windows Live account via Wi-Fi. I use a Windows 7.5 Smart Phone so now most everything on my phone and desktop contact, calendar and notes software (Palm Desktop with Companion Link syncing software) appears on the tablet also, and updates automatically on all three. Plus Win 8 tile interface is almost identical to the phone. 32gb SSD has almost 20gb free after Win 8, plenty of room for working software. Add a 32-64gb SD card and you have plenty of added storage space and working software can be installed there too as it acts like another hard/removable drive. Overall I am impressed and satisfied with the Acer W500 tablet and the included keyboard dock turns it into a laptop when heavy work outside my office is required. I am not a gamer so cannot comment on how well it does there. I highly recommend the W500 if you need or desire a Windows tablet and it is ready for Windows 8 right now. Later in 2012 it will probably have a larger SSD and come with Windows 8 but the cost will be higher.

This is a great tablet. Of course, the main reason that I purchased the tablet was to install the Windows 8 Customer Preview, and it has run smoothly. I am pleased with my purchase and would recommend it to anyone.

Bought it and everything works great as advertised. It's pretty fast and does everything I wanted it to do on Win7. BUT, what I didn't know was that Windows & Acer bloatware would take up so much of the already small 32GB hard drive. When I opened the box and turned it on there was about 16-18GB of free space left. This was too little for me to start with because after installing Office and a bunch of other essential programs I was left with only 6GB for my personal files, movies, music, etc. At that point I was not happy with this product. I returned this and got the ASUS EEE PC instead (same price as the Acer Iconia). That one is slightly heavier & bigger, but has a 320 GB hard drive.

I choose this product because it was a Windows based system and would be compatible with my other work computers - it was extremely compatible. First arrived - took me under 5 minutes to unpack, plug in, turn on and connect to my work network. I was very impressed - slower than my main pc but something I expected. Great - I can take files to court or meetings from my work pc with ease. Internet access through blue tooth. I've played with others IPads (friends and family alike), and other than internet connectivity being built in - there is nothing they can do that I cannot as well. I can also connect with my pc and review Word/Excel documents just like I was at my pc.

It works very well--it runs Microsoft Windows 7 and is capable of running the next operating system Windows 8 which has added capabilities for touch on the slate. In the meanwhile it is an excellent laptop that runs MSOffice and fits right in with the home network and corporate network. Very easy to set up and convenient. I really like it when simply surfing the web its all finger touch enabled, but as you would expect with the keyboard it works well for writing term papers ...contrary to the Ipad or Android slate which are primarily for surfing the web and not for getting a lot of work done. Walmart needs to carry the correct case i needed to go to a competitor site A... to get the correct case
