The HP 50g is an exceptional graphing calculator that is capable of all mathematical functions required from high school through professional work. Using this calculator to perform engineering design work is very easy. RPN is very easy to learn and helps me to think about what I am calculating. The equation writer is a life saver in writing algebraic expressions and equations I've used TI products for a while since junior high school and glad I chose to try out the HP 50g for professional engineering work. I highly recommend this calculator.

If you are willing to get past the learning curve, this is a fantastic calculator. I am an engineering student and I bought this after reading favorable reviews from working engineers. It is much cheaper than the TI-89 and provides similar features. After learning to use RPN, I can do long and complicated calculations more quickly and accurately than with a TI. Everything happens on the stack, so I don't have to wade through menus and apps like I did on a TI. However, the menus and apps are still there if you want it, and if you like entering equations TI-style, you can use it in algebraic entry mode. You can even use both modes at the same time. Everything is customizble, it seems, so if you find a certain feature annoying, you can change it. The buttons feel better than the TI, and I like the layout better, too, once I got used to it. The only thing I don't really like is that it comes with a soft case which is bulkier and less reliable than the hard TI cases (definitely won't fit in your pocket).

Symbolic calculator that you can not cheat on Calculus tests with. You have to know Calculus formulas and how to use them before you can put them into the calculator. I liked this calculator so much that I purchased one for me and one for someone else.

This calculator has met my expectations so far and still impresses me everyday. I have a friend that bought a TI-84 or something like that after a day with the HP-50g he has put his old one on sale and wants to purchase this same one.
