[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used this in my front yard and it initially worked great. We noticed there were no more paths popping up from the voles. However after about 2 months it must have stopped working. I couldn't hear it anymore and the voles came back unfortunately. Back to the drawing board.

NEED. I see mole runs in my yard during temperate and hot seasons, as evidenced by raised soil. So, I thought I'd try Molemax Mole & Gopher Repellent Sonic Spike. I obtained one Sonic Spike late in the fall. This was probably not the best time to prove it, since the mole activity is only apparent on warmer days. SIMPLE INSTALLATION. I used a sharpened stake to make the hole, then stuck in the Sonic Spike. I put it near the garden where there were active mole runs. Following the directions, I turned off the unit for 48 hours to let the battery charge via the sun on the solar collector. After 2 days, I turned it on and verified that the “chatter” sounded on schedule every 28 seconds. Very simple. CHARGING. On some of the late fall days when little sun is seen, the battery was not sufficiently charged to keep it going constantly. But during other days I could hear it chattering even during night time hours. RESULTS. As expected, there seemed to be increased activity at first, then it tapered off. Eventually (December) there was no apparent activity near the spike, but neither were there tunnels elsewhere in my yard where it had previously been. In colder seasons, moles dig more deeply, so that is undoubtedly why I see no activity now. Therefore, I cannot say that this is due to the Sonic Spike. I will know more in the spring when the moles tunnel closer to the surface.

Molemax Solar Spike is supposed to repel moles and gophers. I like that it is solar powered and therefore I do not need to purchase batteries or need an electrical socket. I ordered one to chase my pesky mole away. My possible problem is that my house divides the front yard from the back yard and I may need more spikes. I put the solar spike in the front yard where I currently see mole tunnels and there is more sun to keep the spike charged. I have checked daily for new tunnels and have found none. I also flattened the old tunnels and have been checking to see if the tunnels were reused – they have not. So far (in the short time I have had the spike), I have seen no new mole activity. Either the spike is working and he left or he moved and will return after the winter. For now, I recommend Molemax Solar Spike for mole and gopher repellant. I will try to find my review and update in the spring or just write a new review. I give Molemax Solar Spike 4 stars because you need to be careful with the mowing. Note: I received this product as a promotion.
