There was this solid/powdery substance getting all over the inside of the lock box from within the lock box. The store believed it to be the fireproof/stopper or something.
Only concern I have is the lock/key assembly is a little finicky. I also wondered if its possible based on the interior indentations to anchor the unit in place?
I ordered two of these the one had an issue with the key. It doesn't turn very well and the insides are not big enough for tax papers unless you take them out of the packets that your tax preparer puts them in
Seems to have a good build, comes with two keys. Probably easy to picklock, though it does seem to have some resistance to brute force. Messed with the keys a bunch and the lock didn't fail nor did the keys. Wish SentrySafe sold Lockless fire safes, Locks only make the items seem more valuable. Probably not waterproof, but that's easy to solve with many solutions ranging from DIY seals to ziplocks. The handle is fun to mess with. Pretty light too, about as heavy as a 1 to 2 car battery's. Haven't tested Fire resistance, though I'm not sure how good 30minutes of fireproof is cause house fires and car fires can last for much longer than that. better than nothing I guess.
The lock on the safe doesn't seem secure. The keys appear generic, which raises concerns about the uniqueness of the locking mechanism. The lock appears less durable than the rest of the safe and may not offer strong resistance to forced entry. It is confirmed that if you buy, there will be a white residue inside the case. It's called flame retardant and it's used to slow the spread of flames and reduce smoke, providing extra protection for valuables during a fire. It also helps to prevent or delay the ignition of combustibles inside the safe itself.
