Awesome boots, 100% waterproof, VERY rugged, and extremely comfortable. This is the second pair of these boots I've owned and I like them so much I might buy another pair immediately just in case they stop making them. Incredible value, and they are SUPER rugged. You will not be disappointed.

I have used the shoes for several years for work go through 2-3 pairs a year and they continue to get harder to find, and also are constantly made of cheaper components. The latest being the top quick connects are now made of cast material which breaks much quicker and render the shoes useless

I originally went to Walmart for the Ozark Trail Peyton Boots because they're cheap ($25). They didn't have my size so I was looking around for another pair of boots to get, as it's winter and I was going away for the weekend in the mountains. I settled on the Putty II based on seeing them in person at the store. I like the fact that they have deep treads on the bottom for stability (deeper than the Peyton) and they look nicer, in my opinion. I wore them on a winter hike in the Catskills and they were great. My feet stayed warm and dry, even being in snow up to my knees at some points. These boots are waterproof and have an anti-microbial aspect to them, although I haven't been able to test that out yet (I've worn them for that 1 hike). Looking forward to wearing them on future hikes or just digging out my car when it snows. Great value too, only $30.

So far seems to be a good pair of boots. I'm an instructor for law enforcement personnel and I wanted something light and confortable that could take the beating of climbing, jumping and constant movement, plus look good with my attire. It appears that this boot meets all the above. Great styling, very comfortable and the price is excellent. Plus shopping wal-mart online was extremely convenient.

I bought these boots back in 2006 after trying on every hiker boot in the store, and these fit perfectly. I have wide feet, and these ran wide. The current 2009 Putty model is narrower, and I wish the manufacturer would go back to the original, wider sole, because I'd grab another pair or two in a heartbeat! I have used these along the AT crest numerous times in the Great Smokies in single-degree and subzero weather, in 16-inch snow depths and with the right socks, and never had cold feet for a second, even though they are not technically designed with insulative properties. I've slogged through many a creek and stood in downpours, and they are indeed waterproof, not a drop has ever penetrated through the boots to the socks. I haven't experienced the seam or stitching problems others have, perhaps a new manufacturing goof. The sole has finally worn down a bit, and I'd love to pick up another pair or two, just wish they would widen them up like they had them! They have truly performed as well as my other, more expensive boots (Vasque and Aku) in non-extreme environments in terms of traction (for me, they perform quite adequately on wet, slick and mossy rocks along steep sections on the Smokies' rocky trails) and certainly comfort, although you wouldn't want to use them for anything genuinely technical or extremely cold (i.e., high-alpine snow and ice, glacier traverses, etc), that's not what they're designed for. They are waterproof, they do seem to insulate well, and the comfort and traction are good enough. For the price, a fantastic bargain. If you plan on doing any winter hiking and you know you'll encounter snow and slush, bring your winter socks and check the fit at the store, since the fit seems to be running narrower than it used to. Happy hiking!
