Slimfast, Advanced Nutrition Smoothie

This is my go to morning pick-me-up. It tastes and feels like a desert, but it is really a well balanced, nutritious meal. packed with all those good things that my otherwise not-so-great diet misses. This smoothie mix is really delicious and can be made to any thickness you want. I like mine extra thick! Also, If I opt for a yogurt breakfast, I will mix plain yogurt with Vanilla Slimfast and top with fruit and nuts. Wow, it is the best!!!

I really wanted to like this product. I need to lose some weight . The premixed products seem so wasteful . I had tried slimfast powder years ago before the premixed and stopped using it because it was so had to mix up and short of putting it in a blender it was never fully mixed up . I had hoped that 20 + years had made a huge difference. However there was no difference . The product still does not mix well . I have tried several different ways of mixing it up . Unless I used the blender it was not a good mix. My hope was to take this to work and mix it with milk at work . That did not work out . I tried mixing it the night before , left it in the fridge and it was still not mixing well and had become as thick as pudding. For me this is not a good choice. IF you are going to be at home and have a blender handy ..by all means add an ice cube as suggested and it is a great smoothie .

SlimFast Advanced Nutrition Smoothie packs 20 g of protein in an 8 oz serving! This was the first time I tried the powdered version of SlimFast product and found it better tasting than their ready to drink shakes. I mixed a scoop of smoothie powder with 8 oz of 2% milk and the taste was smooth and rich, just like a high end chocolate milk. The product promises to keep the hunger away for 4 hours but I felt full for over 6 hours. On the days I had the smoothie for breakfast I was not hungry at lunch so I would have a small snack when I came from work and a small dinner. I feel better, my appetite is suppressed and after two weeks of just replacing my breakfast with the smoothie I have lost 2 pounds. One package makes about 12 servings if you use the scoop measure included for 8 oz of milk.

I like the flavor and versatility of this chocolate smoothie mix from Slimfast. I can quickly stir in one scoop into a glass of milk for a quick breakfast or lunch. Or when I have more time I like to use my smoothie blender and add one scoop of the powder to 8 ounces of milk, about three sticks of ice, and throw in half a banana or some berries if I have them on hand. Blending in pulses for about 30 seconds results in a thick, creamy ice cold smoothie with a rich chocolate taste and full of vitamins, fiber, and protein. Very little aftertaste, and I'm happy to report that it does keep me from feeling hungry for 4 hours as claimed. Having the scoop included in the canister is convenient, and this product is a good value since I can make 12 smoothies per container.

I can't say that I care to much for this SlimFast Advanced nutrition meal replacement shake mix. The directions say to combine one scoop of the powder(1/4 cup) with 8 fl. oz. of fat free milk. This will then make a shake that has 190 calories and 35 calories from fat. I am not a fan of fat free milk, I use 2% so obviously this will make a difference in the amount of calories. I have made this with the 2% milk and I have made this with Almond/Coconut milk adding 1/2 cup of crushed ice and using the cup setting that I have on my blender to make an individual serving. Either way I found the end result to have a chalky flavor. I thought by using a milk with a little more fat would make it taste better but in my opinion it didn't. This shake mix is gluten free but be aware that it does contain milk and soy if those are an issue. The shake mix has 20g of protein, 24 vitamins & minerals with antioxidants. This one is called the Creamy chocolate, it didn't seem creamy in consistency to me, probably because it contains cocoa. I much rather prefer the SlimFast premade shakes over the powder form.
