I received this toy for free to review. My son (7) is a huge Lego & minion fanatic. I've never used mega blocks before but, decided to request this toy and see how they match up. My son loves this. The instructions were in my opinion a lot clearer than Lego instructions and the pieces weren't as small. With little assistance my son was able to construct this Dino no problem. Since, my son loved this I have bought a few other mega block playsets. So much cheaper than Legos and very comparable. This combo of minions and a dinosaur is a win! I'm writing this review after a week of letting my son play with this toy. The initial reaction was that this is going to be a lot of fun building but a lot of work. The minions are the best part, they are adorable and you can take them apart if you want. It took quite a while to build the dinosaur but after it was finished my son loved it. He doesn't want to take it apart now. Unfortunately, if you have a kid, like mine, who can't sit still for very long, this is not the toy for them. I had to build the whole thing because almost all the pieces are tiny and the same color. It was hard to find the right piece to go where. Overall we really enjoyed building it and playing with the minions. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I received this item in exchange for a honest review. When I received this product I was surprised by how many pieces it had and the actual size. My eight year old and I sat down to build it together. It took us about an hour and a half to complete (and that was with my two year messing with the pieces). Once it was together and my sons tried to play with it some of the pieces kept falling off which frustrated them. That was the only con that we experienced but other than that it's an awesome toy. I got this Mega Blok Minion Dino Ride set for my son because he loves these kinds of building sets. First off he has never put together thing large of a set by myself. This monster is 421 pieces ! At 8 years old I figured this would have been a breeze for him. The box says for 5 + years old but I really doubt a 5 year old will stay at this for long. The difficulty level needs a little work I think 8 + would work a little better for this set. This Mega Blok set arrives with 7 pre sorted bags which I loved but I really wish the bags were numbered like the Lego Brand does.It took about 2 days to finish it completely. But we did have a busy time during the holdays. The most annoying part for my son was just having to sort it and figure out what pieces the directions were calling for. The blocks snapped together fairly easily...a little tight but managable once you get them all sorted. Once we got the Dinosaur put together it looks really cool . It moves and looks very realistic. The Minions we're a nice little bonus. It comes with 2 minion figures and you can collect more of them to use with this set. Very nice toy just a little frustrating to build. I asked my 9yr old to put this together for his little brother. It says 5+ on the box but it is 421pcs and when my son opened it he looked like he wanted to cry. None of the bags were numbered and most of the Mega Bloks are the same color. After taking a deep breath and using his awesome building skills with the instructions he was able to figure it out. It took him some time to finish but when he did he said it was definitely worth it. It can be moved and played with without falling apart (thank goodness). Minions and dinosaurs are definitely a perfect combination. Just make sure the child is older than five (I would suggest older than seven or eight).
