[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So I had high hopes for this supplement and I'm honestly thinking this isn't a normal response and it's probably just me. I have took it for 3 days. The first day just once, and then twice a day for 2 days. I ended up with a strange headache. A dizzy feeling with a pressure behind my eyes. I realized the only thing I'd been doing differently was this supplement. I stopped taking it and for the next two days, no headaches. Could be coincidence but I think I'll just stop using them for now.!

I originally bought this because my partner was suffering unbearable insomnia that was only helped by pretty intense anti-anxiety prescriptions. He started to take this, it took about a week to really help him. I tried it one night when I was stressed and couldn't sleep, it started working right away for me. We both started taking it routinely, it was like the happiness reset button. We'd both been under a lot of pressure, creating major stress and anxiety for a long time. We used it for about 2 weeks, then ran out. There was no detox phase, or issues when we stopped taking it (we're buying more pronto, but wanted to make sure it wasn't addictive first). We both took it at night. It helps to give you a nice peaceful happy feeling, no weird side effects, no crashing. I'd highly recommend this to anyone who's struggling with stress and anxiety.

The non-timed release made me nauseated and wound me up instead of putting me to sleep, so I quit taking it. After three nights with a total of 10 hours' sleep, I thought, "If I'm never going to get another decent night's sleep, I could really use something like that during the daytime." I bought the timed release 100mg and it did help keep me more alert at work, with better concentration. Four nights later, I slept until my alarm went off for the first time in well over two years. The next night (Friday) I slept until nearly noon and woke up bounding with energy. That's another thing that hasn't happened in years. It's an ongoing experiment. Hint: if 5-htp winds you up, don't take 12 hour timed release *at noon*.
