My kids were very excited to see this package arrive. When we got it out of the box, it was much lighter than I expected it to be. The aircraft is made out of a foam material making it super light. Once we got the batteries in and charged it up, we took it outside to test it out. It was a bit hard to figure out how to get it to fly, but after a few days of practice we got a bit better. I think better directions on how to fly it could be helpful. The directions that were enclosed were short and sweet. Pointers would have been useful. The product looks good in the package. However, the package is a little bulky in comparison to the product itself. The star fighter is made out of foam and it may seem fragile but it is very well made and durable. I have crashed it a few times on concrete and it didn't break. The instructions are well written and easy to follow. The remote is very well put together. It is not bulky and easy to hold like a game remote. The Star Fighter takes off well however, percise turning can be a bit tricky. Manuvering the Star Fighter will take much need time and practice IN A LARGE OPEN AREA "park preferred". Once you get use to it, it is a really fun toy. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

We were really excited to try the Star WArs Tie Fighter Advanced. When it arrived we were slightly disappointed. The remote weighs more than the actual Tie Fighter does. It feels very flimsy and not at all like something that would stand the test of time. My boys did have some fun playing with it for all of 10 minutes. We even took it to a backyard birthday party and it wasn't a hit there either. Overall, if I had paid for this I would've taken it back. It wasn't at all what we were expecting. I have waited almost a full month to review the Air Hogs Star Wars RC Tie Fighter Advanced. I did so not because I had forgotten or just plain procrastination. I did so because most items work well when you first purchase them. But, I am interested in an item that can hold up and last over a decent amount of time. So, I have used this repeatedly for the past month to get an idea of the real durability and ease of use. Here are my thoughts. I have an eight-year-old son. Like many he loves Star Wars. With that said, he also gets frustrated pretty easily with difficult toys or ones that don't perform as they should. So, my biggest concern was - that this be easy for him to use. Sadly, it is not. I tried it out first in hopes that I might be able to show him how to use it. But, it was extremely difficult for me to use as well. I literally read over the instructions repeatedly. The instructions state to: 1. Turn on vehicle. 2. Turn on Remote Control. 3. Hold the vehicle in your hand. 4. Push the throttle lever on the remote control to activate Ducted Fan. 5. Gently toss the vehicle parallel to the ground to begin flight. 6. Use Throttle & Directional levers to control flight. The instructions are simple enough. But, I spent a week trying to get it to fly. I even recruited my husband. In hopes that it was something I was doing wrong. But, he had just as much trouble. I repeated “Gently toss the vehicle parallel to the ground to begin flight” over and over again, as did my husband and each time it fell to the ground. I tried in my backyard. I tried in my front yard. I even went to the park, in hopes that an open field would yield successful results. It has been a month and I have yet to see this really fly. I then went to you tube in search of video with more successful demonstrations of the flying fighter. And, while I did find several videos the only thing I realized is that I was doing nothing wrong. I watched about three videos and each of the individuals were able to fly his/her fighter with ease. I am thinking, we must be doing something wrong, but I have no idea what. I think this may be very simple for anyone that has experience flying drones or remote control planes. My son used it a couple of times and of course the only outcome was pure frustration. So, unfortunately, as it stands this in not a toy that will be very useful in my home. There are some things I like and I am not weighing this too heavy on the amount of stars I give overall, because I really think a more experienced flyer would be able to use this fighter. I love that the fighter has a cord and easily plugs into the remote to be charged. I love that this fighter is so lightweight and durable. With all of the direct falls to the ground numerous times it maintained it's cool look without marks or damage. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I have two boys in the age range for this toy, and they love Star Wars, so they were super excited when they heard we'd be getting this Air Hogs R/C TIE Fighter. When it arrived, we charged up the TIE Fighter and put batteries in the remote. The remote requires six AA batteries, which aren't included, so luckily we had enough on hand. We waited about an hour to make sure the TIE Fighter was fully charged and then went outside. Unfortunately, none of the three of us could get the hang of controlling it. It definitely requires two people to operate it at all: one to throw it and one to control it. We found that throwing it straight up worked the best, but it would "fly" for a few seconds at best, and then get out of control and crash. It hasn't been damaged so far, but it would be really easy to have it slam into something at just the wrong angle to mess it up. It seems pretty delicate. It ended up on the neighbor's roof the first time we tried it, so definitely take it to an open field or empty parking lot to try and fly it. We also had issues with the TIE Fighter losing the connection with the controller, even when we were really close to it. All in all, it was really cool to be able to fly a "real" Star Wars vehicle, but it was just too difficult to control and didn't work very well, so it quickly led to frustration and losing interest.
