Just like all the other reviews stated, it's impossible to assemble this gate. I have wasted a whole lot of time trying to do so. The pre drilled holes are obviously off. Once you place the door on there is not way to latch it. As it's too far away. I've tried everything, literally. Came here to see if I was going crazy. Wish I would have read the reviews before wasting so much time.

I received this Summer Infant Home Decor Safety Gate product from the Spark Reviewer program to review. This gate is perfect for containing my three dogs and I really like the nice decorative design. The assembly was pretty confusing for me and there were so many parts to where I did have trouble setting it up and couldn't get the gate to fit snugly and stay in place in the doorway, but with the help of my brother he figured it out and got it to fit nicely in the doorway. It seems like it is very good quality and the metal is nice and strong. The height is 30 inches high which is good and contains my animals. It is nice that it comes with two extenders if needed for wider door openings which I did need to use these. It looks a lot nicer too than previous plastic or wooden gates that I owned that were really flimsy and didn't look half as nice as this gate does. The bronze finished metal is really pretty and goes nicely with my home decor! I would recommend this gate to contain children and animals, but I would recommend having help to set it up!

Surprisingly easy to assemble. The instructions were very clear and the identification of parts was far above what I'm used to with "some assembly required". The only flaw I can see with this is the top of the entire gate assembly. The both top and bottom use the adjustable screw posts to hold it in place. The issue is the bottom has a stabilizer bar that allow you to tighten them down so they do not move. The top has these but with the open top of the gate, it squeezes it in and doesn't hold it to the wall tighly enough. The latch assembly is easy to use but if you over tighten at the top, the latch will not close properly.

I received this product free as a part of Wal-Mart Spark-review program. I decided to install it on a 31” door opening leading to basement as a gate for my dog. The only tools needed were a Philips screwdriver, a hammer and a wrench. The wrench came with the kit. I did not need the extension frames. The kit was easy to assemble. On the threshold-bar, it warns that the door will not look ‘square', and it did not look square. I tried to install it within the door jambs, so I did not need the parts used for drywall installation. On the surface it seemed I was home free, near completing the installation. I was very wrong. The door is not square; because it is supposed to become square during installation as the tension nuts are tightened. First of all, the handle of wrench is too short to apply enough torque to tighten the tension nuts. I became afraid; it will crack my door jamb so I gave up. If the manufacturer can resolve the installation problem, it could be a good product. It will also be nice if the design permitted the door to swing in both directions.

The Summer Infant Home Decor Safety Gate is one of the sturdiest, well-made safety gates that I've ever used. Not only is it highly functional, but the solid construction and stylish appearance make it all that more appealing. I love this gate and feel like I should have at least two more for other areas of my house. The gate will fit any size opening ranging from 28 to 42". It comes with two extra 'spacers' to help you fit this to your particular size opening. The gate arrived in its manufacturer's box inside another box. It was in perfect condition and had helpful instructions to assist in assembly. From start to finish it took about a half and hour to install, and some of this time was spent trying it out in different doorways to find the best fit. The only tool necessary to have is a Phillip's screwdriver, and possibly a hammer to put the top hinge on the frame, though the hammer wasn't necessary in our case as we tapped it down with the palm of our hands. There are two mounting options, pressure and hardware. The hardware option requires that you screw into your wall. The pressure option allows you to mount it using pressure screws that do not damage your walls. The second option is the one I chose so that I could move the gate from doorway to doorway without causing wall damage. It is helpful to have two people installing the gate, but not necessary. It's just easier if one holds it up while the other attaches spacers and mounting hardware. It's also easier to have two people when you're trying to figure out how many spacers to use for the gate. In our case, we had to swap the spacers around a couple of times to get the proper fit. But this was fairly easy and just a matter of pulling them off the main frame. Once it's installed it's ready to use immediately. Just press the button to release the latch, pull up and swing the door open. I was most impressed with the quality of the metal on this gate. It's not the cheap, easily bendable metal you find in some products. These pieces are heavy and solid and if you use the hardware mounting option, I could easily see how it could actually hold the weight of a small child or animal. Just for the quality of the item alone it's worth it. For the functionality it's even more worth it. I would highly recommend this safety gate if you are looking for a higher quality gate that looks attractive in your home. I am incredibly pleased with how it works and how it looks.
