I just finished a queen size quilt using all Batiks...It turned out beautiful...I belong to a quilt group that meets 2 times a month....the ladies all wanted to make a butterfly quilt so I took my die and cutter in and cut many butterflies....most ladies are in their 80's and 90's and were not used to applique....they all loved it.
I was super excited to receive this die in the mail. I had just purchased several yards of rainbow material and I just knew the butterflies would POP using it on a black background. I have cut out 42 butterflies for my quilt and I am busy sewing on the antennae's and then will begin my quilting process. I started cutting out the butterflies one evening (after 9PM) and then was able to iron them onto the black material the very next day and I can already tell I will be using this die many, many more times!
I fell in love with the butterfly wall hanging. Could not wait to get this die. Edyta Sitar was on an episode of Fon's and Porter showing her quilt designs. Amazing. I will be using this die to put a butterfly on the back of a jacket and matching with a tote to take to local quilting classes.
I couldn't wait to receive the Butterfly die and pattern in the mail, and when it came, I immediately started cutting the pieces for a quilt for my great niece. The quilt came out beautifully and have I been requested to make another for a friend of mine. I couldn't have done it without the die and pattern. Manual cutting out of applique pieces is in the past for me!
I needed some smaller butterflies for an antique quilt I was finishing and when the die came it was way too large! Now I will just have to save up to buy the smaller one - I'm on a fixed income and it takes a few months to save up to purchase a die. But, I will be using this one, just not the way I had anticipated and the other project will just have to be put back on the shelf a couple of months.
