Bell Bicycle Chain Repair Kit

I owned this tool for about 3 years and used it about 3 times. I liked it at first because of its compact size and fits in my bike bag. But this last time I used it the darn thing broke in two pieces. In my opinion this tool is only good for a few uses. For durability choose a better quality tool.

So I bought this to remove an old rusted chain from my bike and it worked. It made me quite skeptical of the other reviews which stated it broke immediately. I figured they didn't now what they were doing. I replaced that chain with a brand new chain and went about my business. I later decided that I wanted to remove the brand new chain and tried the tool again and it broke. Guess my luck ran out.

EXTREMELY difficult to turn once tight; I had to use 2 crescent wrenches to use it which was difficult and frustrating. I was trying to practice with this tool and the piece that pushes the pin broke on my second try. It didn't seem to really line up with the pin anyway. I don't understand why the manufacturer would waste their time making this item and then waste their time selling it.

Master links will not work on narrow chain. Master link provided for narrow chain lacks locking grooves in pin to receive and secure master link locking plate. Wide chain link is OK.
