Braun Series 5 550 CC - Shaver - cordless - black

Does not give as close a shave as my old Norelco. Needs new cutting head about twice per year: very expensive to own. Does not hold shavings well so you have to brush and clean after each shave and clean up the shavings that escape while shaving. Now I need to replace the cutter again and the price is out of sight

Since 48 years I use Braun shavers and the Series 5 I now used for about 2 years is the worst shaver I ever owned. Compared to the Syncro 7526 it replaced due to batteries getting tired it doesn't give as close of a shave and worst of all it rips out hair instead of cutting. If you get close to a beard or hairline or didn't shave for 2 or 3 days it is a painful and very slow process to get shaved. Yesterday, after not having shaved for 3 days, I charged my old Syncro and ran it with power cord as I was afraid of the shaving pain with the Series 5. Not a single hair ripped out and a very fast and close shave! I retired the new shaver and use the old one with power cord..... In short: don't waste your money for a Series 5 shaver if you have an old and good Braun!

My last Braun lasted several years before breaking

The Braun 550 did not meet my expectations in the following areas: -Poor shave quality, worse out of the box than my current linear shaver model from another manufacturer, with a dull 4 year old cutter. -High vibration, barely tolerable for the duration of a quick shave -Sideburn trimmer is at an awkward angle and doesn't cut well -The supplied travel case is very bulky. The competition supplies a fitted plastic cap that protects the foil without adding bulk in my suitcase. -The foil does not pop off easily for manual cleaning, for those of us who chose not to use the giant base station On the plus side, I was pleased to see that corded operation was possible, and it is possible to not use the base station. The noise level was higher than desired, but better than the incumbent. Outcome: I returned this product, and will not be considering other Braun shvers.

I like my shaver is really good.and easy to use.i like that.
