Brother 1034D 3 or 4 Thread Serger with Easy Lay-in Threading, White

would have given it a 5 but the thread came jumbled up. good think i use sergers pretty regular but still did not like their directions. overall im glad i purchased this and fits well with my other machines.

Very easy to thread. Of course I simply tie new thread to old thread and pull thru in correct order while holding tension release button. Thread trap is a must and so glad this model includes it free of charge. Arrived packaged very securely, promptly and undamaged. Includes a full manual which is surprising but greatly appreciated. It actually comes with two books/manuals with multiple languages included. Sound is reasonable, light is super bright. This model was super easy to set up, thread and use. If you're wavering on which type of serger to purchase, you won't regret this one. Includes all the extra components you expect and want! Whether it's your first or a replacement serger, this model is terrific.

I really love this serger!! It is easy to use and to thread. I also own another serger that cost a few thousand, which is currently getting repaired. I purchased this one just to use while my other one is being repaired. I like this one so much, that I may get a second one!! Sews like a dream through thick and thin fabrics, and uses standard sewing machine needles.

Poorly designed. Threading of left hook almost impossible. Moving slide on bottom of left hook not sturdy or in lubed slide . Kept breaking left hook thread. Machine ran as if it was never lubricated. Returned!

Bought the Singer serger from the Wal-Mart store, it did work, however, was not completely satisfied so ordered the Brother 1034D Serger from Wal-Mart.com, it is a much nicer serger than the Singer as it came with more accessories, a catch material tray and a couple of feet the Singer did not have. The foot lift lever is a lot nicer on the Brother being an easy reach lever to the right side of the machine and to me runs a little smoother than the Singer. The foot lift lever on the Singer is where you have to reach around the back of the foot and the Sergers carrying handle has a tendency to get in the way. The Brother works best and is the best bang for your dollar. Threading is not complicated, it is only intimidating if you believe it's going to be, not a problem at all. Really I don't know why the Wal-Mart stores don't carry the Brother over the Singer or both for that matter. Buy it, trust me you can't go wrong and will not be disappointed. Took the Singer back to the store after having read the reviews and received the Brother from Wal-Mart.com, ordered it, it was delivered when promised by Fed-EX no complaints. MY wife is very pleased with the product.
