Brother Business Smart Plus MFC-J5930DW Color Inkjet All-in-One Printer Series

It took several attempts of loading the software as I originally was setting up wireless had to go USB to eliminate printing issues. If you print shipping labels read their warning must use the MP tray we are attempting to try this to see if we can continue to use the machine for this purpose.

We've always used HP printers, but they don't print card stock effectively. We bought this Brother printer recently and it prints card stock or photo paper with ease. In addition, we can feed envelopes to be printed which we couldn't do on our most recent HP printer. We also like that paper can be placed in three different trays. Great printer!

So far so good, this is the first Brother printer I've purchased. Set up was simple & connected to the home network w/o any issues. Use a hardwired printer connection to the router. The hardwired and wi-fi pc's on the network have no issues printing. Printing is relatively quick and a dialog box shows the status of ink & paper tray with each print job. The Software utilities are useful, use the scan feature to create pdf files on a regular basis. Like the 11x17 paper size option, use this for printing reduced size electrical dwgs. Did have to download & install the print driver separate from the full software package. One PC didn't seem to have all the printer features with only the full software installation. Hopefully in the long run the print heads/print quality holds up, tried a Brother this time when the last two non-Brother printers started having issues within two years.

Love this new Brother printer! The print quality is sharp, quick, and quiet! The photos I print are about the same quality as my local drugstore, and perfect for printing memories for the fridge or friends. Set up is cumbersome if your are doing the whole 9 yards like I did. But I have scan to different folders on the network set up with shortcut keys, scan to email for multiple email addresses, color pdf, black pdf, full color jpg's settings that scan to specific places with specific names, etc. I bought this model instead of the 6935 bc I didn't need ledger sized scanning, and it is MUCH smaller than the 6935. Trust me, I bought that one first and could hardly get it out of the box! This one still does duplex scanning (one pass), duplex printing, has the ADF, multipurpose tray, and uses the Super High Capacity ink cartridges LC3029. It scans up to legal size, but prints up to ledger size. I have had many HP OfficeJets before, which are good printers. However, this one is much quieter, has two paper trays and a multipurpose tray, and prints a much better picture. I will say that the multipurpose tray is difficult with photo paper, it sticks together a little from the pressure of the paper holder...but Tray 1 handles 4 x 6 photo paper with ease! Overall an excellent printer; I am very pleased with my switch to the Brother MFC-J5930DW! I think it works well for a home office, but would also be perfect in a small office environment -- with the ability to set up multiple scan to network folders and multiple scan to email accounts. I think it also has metered printing (where you assign codes to each person/dept), but my home office doesn't need that.

I'm very pleased with the printer so far, easy to set up and operate, the scan and copy features are handy to use, and it should be very economical to operate. It is too soon to tell about the longevity of the printer, if it does not hold up then my five star rating would become a one star rating.
