.....VERY slow to start printing when networked. It seems as though it would benefit from more internal memory to aid the print spooling/print process. That said, I'm very pleased with the print quality, ink economy and overall presentation of the printer. I print lots of A3 drawings and the performance in this regard has been flawless!

Overall I am very pleased with my purchase. It produces printouts of very good quality for the price. It worked first time via USB but was tricky to set up on my home network. All the family now have access to the printer without difficulty. Colour printouts are OK but monochrome is a little muddy and not true black. I do not wholly trust the paper tray which feels a bit flimsy but does accept different paper sizes without difficulty.

I was particularly impressed with the network faciltiy as I have never had this luxery before. A simple cable plug in to the wifi box (or network box) and all my pcs can print to it. The speed is great! Picture clarity is perfect as my son always complained witht the last prinrer that his mates had better pictures than him. Not any more!

I recently replaced my old MFC-210c when I mishandled & broke the cover whilst relocating in my office so because of that, I needed to immediately buy a replacement same-day as I always need to be able to print. Although I briefly considered another brand (no particular reason), after further research & reading numerous reviews, I opted for the MFC-5890CV. This was because (but not limited) to the following: 1/ I was familiar with the brand 2/ Availability was good both on-line & in-store 3/ Easy for me to source replacement ink-cartridges 4/ The model has all the features on my old Brother printer but with many new additions so I felt it was time to 'trade-up' 5/ I simply loved the price vs. features Installation was very easy & once powered and inked-up, I was up & running again in 20 mins. I HIGHLY recommend this product to both professionals and casual/home users, you simply cannot go wrong. Almost forgot, I love the sleep-feature, have never come across this feature elsewhere so another big selling-point to me. Bottom-line: I will now not even consider another brand in the future per my very positive experiences with Brother's hardware so, keep it up guys!

Far an A3 printer this is great value, as I use A3 occasionally the manual changeover of paper input is not a problem. The rest of it, copy scan etc. is A4 and that all works well. Installing as a network printer was a breeze and so far the inks seem to be lasting well.
