I have a Brother sewing machine that is the top of the line manual. I have recommended Brother to my sewing students as well as it is a user friendly machine--threading diagram for threading and a winding bobbin diagram right on the machine. It includes the little line on the hand wheel that lines up with the seam of the main sewing machine body which tells you that is the highest point for the needle position (nice feature.) It also has a drop-in bobbin and a diagram to show how to insert it. Comes with extra feet. Plus the needle threader is a great feature. My daughter needed a new machine so I bought her this one. Great value at an affordable price.
An 11 year old girl enjoys this machine so much and has been a breeze for her to learn on all on her own using the dvd and online videos. Runs so smooth and has so many options for to get creative!
I checked other retailers and compared prices, and Walmart's price was much better for the same item. I had selected this item based on the things I needed help with.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion. When I got divorced, I lost access to my ex's really nice machine. I just wanted to learn to sew so I could hem the sleeves of my cheap sweatshirt that I "Belichicked"because I hate long sleeves. Well this little machine did the trick. it was easy to set up, thread and sew. Let's be honest, I'm not making my own shirts here. but for making something look good, the 3701 gets the job done
I love Brother products but for some reason my needle kept hitting on metal and I did all I could and never figured it out. My needle was not bent but it kept bunching thread from the bobbin and getting hung up where I had to pull the fabric softly to get it loose. I am sure it was a minor adjustment but having just purchased it, I didn't want to pay someone to come out and fix it. Could not find any help online without it costing me so I sent it back.
