This cat tree fell apart and came down. I'm glad none of my cats got hurt. It is unsafe for both animals and people. I happened to purchase several of them and was very concerned afterwards. For peace of mind, I tied around the edges cable ties where the parts join and that seemed to make the tree more stable. I will never buy this kind of climber again. Very cheaply made.
I'm on my 3rd. I like this tree and so do all my cats. It's thin and tall. Holds up to them climbing and sleeping on it all day and watching out the window we call kitty TV. Here's a few photos of two of my older Cat Craft trees. The one I'm replacing (porch tree) I have had for 21 years! The other (near Christmas tree-1st photo) is 18yo I think.
I really like this little tree! My cat is a huge fan. I have a loft bed, and this makes it much easier for my kitty to get on and off the bed, and he also enjoys playing and perching on this tree. I've had this tree for a month, and have had no problems with its sturdiness or anything like that. One small issue is that I'm worried over time, that my cat may scratch the felt material to pieces, but installing some sisal rope could solve that problem. My cat is 2 and a half, and 11 lbs. He plays rough at times, and bolts up this tree quick. It wobbles a bit when he does this, but I think a degree of wobbliness is necessary, so it doesn't snap. The top and bottom of the tree remain securely in place when he plays. I thought that the little platforms would be a little too small for my cat to sit comfortably, but he can lay on it with no problems, and he does so quite frequently. I would say, for the price you can't beat it. It's simple, and works as advertised. I definitely would purchase this tree again.
My cats do not go easy on car trees. I have to bracket these to the wall but they still hold up WAY longer than any other trees we have tried. My cats destroy sisal (and then try to eat it) and they won't touch loop carpet, these are great they are like a heavy felt material. It holds up pretty well and doesn't make a mess or snag the cats' nails. The platforms are big enough to jump and play but not really big enough for lounging comfortably. My 12 lb can lay down but she doesn't really nap on them. The boys can't even really lay down without spilling over but they love to scratch and play on them!
This is the fourth one of these I've bought in the past 12 years. I would say that each one has lasted at least 7 years depending on the cats I've had at the time. I ordered another one as backup to this one for a second place in the house. It is such a simple concept with such wonderful enrichment for the little furballs.
