Egyptian oud with classic tear drop shape and bowl bottom that has 11 nylon strings and adjustable hardwood bridge. The body and neck are made from dark red mahogany wood and have a stunning shiny finish. Its soundboard is made from cedar wood and it has a pick guard to help prevent scratching the sound board, as well as a wooden arm guard at bottom. The sound board also includes 3 oval shaped sound holes with a darker edge around them. The decorations can vary from those photographed. This item includes a nylon gig bag, owner's guide and pick. There are multiple tuning options for instrument, but we recommend using the Arabic method: DGADGC. This oud has a range of a little more than 3 octaves. Note: Whether you purchase an instrument on-line or from a physical store locally, it is recommended that you change the strings on your new instrument as soon as you receive it. The strings of an instrument both in a store or shipped to you are exposed to air and different environments prior to you receiving it. During this time the strings WILL oxidize, decreasing it's life expectancy and reducing the quality of it's sound. On occasion instruments may even arrive with a broken string, therefore, it is recommended that you purchase a replacement set of strings and consider changing your strings as soon as it arrives. Learning to change strings should be the first lesson learned when embarking on the journey of playing a new instrument.
