It can pass power from an external source (available separately) through to your HERO9/10/11 Black, further extending your total shooting time, and you can also power it from a continuous source of power, so you don't have to recharge during your shoot. Two sliding bases are included with the battery, one with a tripod mount and one compatible with a GoPro-style three-prong mount. Shoe mounts on the top and side allow you to add more accessories such as a light or microphone.
