Dirt Devil I Upright Vac

I was soooo excited to get this vac thinking of all the great reviews. Well people need to keep their stuff for longer than 6 mos before they write a review. I had my vac for about 7-8 mos and the stupid motor died on me. This vac is horrible, especially for being so expensive. Since I did not have the receipt anymore there was nothing I could do about it but be out almost $300. I would never recommend this vac to anyone.

Overall this is a great vacuum. However, there are some things I was disappointed with. The product info boasts an extra long hose - but in reality you cannot go very far with the hose without it either popping off or tipping the vacuum over, despite the "hook" on the hose designed to keep the vacuum from tipping over when using it. It is very easy to clean. It is very attractive. It is functional, though dirt and debris easily affects the suction power. When unobstructed, suction power is great. Have to make multiple passes on tile flooring in order to get all debris up. The power cord is VERY long, which is very nice, and the retractable function is nice. It is weird that the step-on button is to retract the cord and not to tilt the vacuum, but you get used to it. The scented filters smell very nice. The manual was very comprehensive and has all the information you need in a very clear, easy-to-read format.

I am currently owned by 1 dog, 1 mouse, 3 ferrets, 4 cats & 6 rats. So I needed a REAL good vacuum that could pick up -everything- I ask it to. This thing is totally neat! It got fur up off my floor I didn't even see! I found huge clumps of tumbled fur behind a door, got it with no problem with the hose feature! Sucked up the rest with the vacuum. The retractable cord is what sold me with this product. I don't really care that the cord is short because all I have to do is unplug it, press a button and it winds up for another room to do. The only feature I really dislike about this product is the VERY short hose and I wish I could buy an extension for it. Seeing as I have so many animals, the scent filters are fantastic! We're loving the tropical breeze at the moment. The dirt chamber also needs constant dumping, but its so easy I don't even care. People have problems with it sucking on the hard floors, and I do too. However, I may just not be using it right. I don't have any problems with the hose suction, its very strong and gets done what I need it to do and I have no problems with the parts falling out of it. Great vacuum for the price, I have no regrets! Look at all the dirt & fur it got!

I just got this vacuum a few weeks ago, but so far I am very pleased with it. I vacuumed my carpet with my old vac and then I did it with my new Dirt Devil and it was amazing how much dirt it picked up. I am very pleased with how easy it is to dump the dirt out of the canister. It is a very well designed vacuum and it has worked great for me so far. My only complaint is that there was a small crack in the handle area once I had put it together.

I strongly considered a Dyson, but balked at the 500 dollar+ price tag. I read all the reviews for this Dirt Devil online and decided to give it a try. It uses the same cyclone technology and even has the same warranty as a Dyson! (5 Years) Everything positive that was said about this was correct. After doing my great room and bedroom, not only was there lots of dust/hair in the collection chamber, but there was a 2 inch tall pile of DIRT at the bottom of the container. THAT is what my previous vacuum had been missing. No wonder I was sneezing and blowing my nose all the time. The attachments are passable and do the job. Nothing fancy but that's ok with me. If you want a vacuum that lives up to all the reviews and is a great product actually worth the money, buy this Dirt Devil.
