Never empties then drains on clothes and stains them. Horrible product

My husband bought it and before I threw the softener in there but the truth is that if your washing machine already has the space to add the softener then you don't need it. But when you don't have a washing machine with those parts then it's super good because it stays inside the ball until the process of the last rinse begins and the clothes are left with a stronger smell of softener.

I picked this up hoping it had been improved since the last one I bought hundreds of years ago. Nope. It still doesn’t dispense all of the fabric softener So you really are wasting product. It’s just easier to run the rinse and spin cycle a second time or even better CATCH it when the machine goes into the mode the price is right. It is made with high quality material. But it just doesn’t do the job completely that you’ve hired it to do.

I purchased one of these downy balls and it was very reasonably priced. I was reluctant at first thinking it was just some money make laundry hype propaganda but still i purchased because I'm a sucker for new products and gadgets...especially ones that are effective. I did my laundry and once all my 3 loads of laundry was done washing I was very surprised to see the laundry ball had dispensed all the softener and at the right time in the wash cycle. I read some review where the ball hadn't opened at all but mine did 3 out of 3 times 100% effectiveness my first time using. . . Also on the package it states use in a top loading washer however I used it in a front loading washer and it still worked! I would recommend to anyone who is laundry enthusiast.

I had a Downy Ball that I purchased some 18+ years ago and it worked like a charm. It open and released every single time. Unfortunately, I dropped the ball and it cracked and I had to purchase a new one. The new ball is hit or miss on opening. It appears that others have this problem as well and the company is quick to blame it on the type of washer, the slow spin cycle, or not enough water in the tub. With all the complaints, you would think that they would look into how the balls are made and compare them to the initial balls that were made years ago. I'm guessing they have found a way to use cheaper materials and that's why the balls are failing. Looks like I'll have to pay attention to the washer cycles now and manually add the softener as I'm not a fan of dryer sheets. Dryer sheets seem to leave oily marks on clothes.
