Grinds coffee well enough but very frustrated by the mess it makes. Always have to hit the grinder to get all the grounds out even for coarser grinds. On top of that, grinds always land outside the collector and I end up vacuuming the area daily. I've considered reaching out to the company for a refund. It's honestly more frustrating than a grinder ought to be.
Not at all happy with this product. I am in the process of returning it. It worked for a short time (about two weeks) and then clogged up. Even though I cleaned it out thoroughly and unclogged all grounds, it kept re-clogging. It is a poor design as not all of the ground coffee is dispensed into the cup so grinds building up and ultimately clog the machine. I am switching to a different company.
got this about a week ago. Grinding is great, fast, and the non static feature on the cup also works wonders to keep the grinder from making a mess. I don't give it 5 starts because it has a lot of coffee retention. I've put 18 g of coffee and gotten 17 g afterwards.
This is my first burr grinder and overall it's been making great Pour Over/French Press coffee for me. Compared to the old and very cheap blade grinder (yuck) that I had borrowed from someone before I knew how bad they were… the particle size uniformity and ease of use of this machine is vastly superior. There is a small amount of retention but I did get a water spritzer and will say that I can notice the small difference when I spray my beans before vs not but sometimes I'm lazy and the difference isn't always worth it. The build quality and aesthetics are great in my opinion. Even the knocker feels solid, even though it's a bit loud to use. The grinding itself is relatively quiet though so there's a bit of tension there. Like what's the point of a quiet grinder when knocking it is so loud? Overall, I am very satisfied after the first few weeks of ownership.
I think it's amazing. After almost 4 years of feeling proud of grinding beans at home I finally got convinced that my electric blade grinder was not good. I refused every explanation before arguing that it didn't matter how, grinding coffee at home before brewing was already enough luxury... Well finally I decided to make some tests, maybe my palate became finest, I convinced myself there was a huge difference and decided to step up my coffee game. The Fellow Opus is simply wonderful. Simple, small enough, nice looking and just does the job... Bear in mind I have not tried it for espresso, as I don't do it at home, but I have been using it for 2 weeks for pour over, french press and cold brewing and I am loving the results. I am sure the Ode would be outstanding, but in my country it is just too expensive to consider it for a simple guy like me. So the Opus is just a great improvement and a great modern luxury if you care and enjoy for subtle things such as how even your coffee particles have to be. I am very happy with it
