very "clunky" to shift weights and if not placed perfectly back on the rack will jam up or if pulling of the rack if not perfectly straight the ones not used go flying off. was hoping for a full set for working out at home and i find myself not using them because of the pain to change settings sometimes i have to lift up slightly to get them to shift correct. much cheaper than name brand and it shows, save up and get a real set.
I love the flexibility of these dumbbells. Being able to change weights mid-workout is a game changer. However, I do have a couple of concerns. They are larger than traditional dumbbells, which can make some exercises feel awkward or even impossible to perform. Additionally, when working to failure, it's difficult to place the dumbbells back into the correct slots on the weight plates. Despite these issues, I still consider them a great investment and would recommend them.
Pros: Works great, love that there are 2.5 lb increments, glides in and out very easily compared to other brands, grip feels soft and comfortable, weights are coated and glide easily. Cons: It is on the large side and takes up a lot of space compared to other brands. There's something rattling inside that doesn't seem to effect function now but I wonder about longevity.
Got these to replace a Bowflex set, since the the look is the same and I like the small steps between weights at the lower levels. The prices of other adjustable dumbbell sets scared me off, so I tried these for their value. They work pretty reliably and get the job done, but the quality is substantially lower than the Bowflex (before they broke and were recalled). The handle is a bit rough, which I don't mind. The weights feel like they shift and creak a bit on the handle, and the plates in the tray frequently pull out or fall over, making putting the weights I am using back into the tray more complicated. Overall I am happy with the value for money and they seem reasonably reliable, but there is definitely an aspect of compromise to these dumbbells.
The weight switches easy, but the plates done stay in the slits in the base. So when you go to put them back on they don't go back very easy you have to use your other hand to align the plates to slide in the handle. Or the plates. Catch and fall off the base all together.
