I had read comments that these were not true to size...ran small, so instead of L, I ordered my husband XL. Although it fits him just fine and he's happy with it, I will need to remember to always check the tag on this top. It has to be washed in cold water while I'm accustomed to washing most of his 'underwear' , especially bottoms, in warm or hot water. I suspect this top will definitely shrink if washed in water that's too warm. Otherwise, my husband likes it. He's the one that wears it, so, I just have to do my part by not causing it to shrink!
The look and material are fine. What is not fine is the sizing. I have always worn a large in shirts, so I got a large in this. Unfortunately, I could barely get it on and had to return it. It fit more like a standard medium, perhaps even small. I got an XL instead, which I never wear in shirts, and the shoulder and arms fit fine but it is still a little little snug around the body (good enough to keep though).
Not a fan of these. They run too small, they bind in awkward places, and they basically were a waste of money because I will have to purchase another set of thermals to replace them. I'm using these as a base layer for my ECWCS. Pretty much the only upside is that they do functionally wick moisture away from the skin adequately, however, the material is so thin that these are basically silk weight and won't have much capacity in that regard. They run so small they'll either be baggy or too tight. Neither of those options is acceptable. I regret purchasing these.
I've been getting these Fruit of the Loom thermals for 30 years. Same quality, they last years, and cost is good though SHOP AROUND on Walmart online to get the best deal. I had to get a black and white combo to get two at a good price, but that's fine. I'm 6'0" about 175 lbs and get XL tops and L bottoms. They'll shrink some and I want the sleeves to be long.
I work in an auto repair shop and have to spend a lot of time on the shop floor. The place is not heated and they have to leave the doors open most of the time so it gets pretty cool during the winter months (mid 30s sometimes [I live in Phoenix]). Wearing this thermal crew top (along with the bottoms) keeps me warm enough to do my work. I would recommend it.
