Garmin n��vi 265WT - GPS navigator - automotive 4.3" widescreen

We are very pleased with our new Garmin nuvi 265WT. I was able to go to the Garmin website and download the new 2010 map for free. We've used it a couple times and would have been lost without it.

After extensive research on navigational products, we chose to purchase this one in lieu of renewing Onstar so that we could use it in multiple vehicles. It works as well as Onstar and any of the online mapping services we have used. Sometimes takes odd routes but it will definitely get you to your destination. Very nice to have in areas that you don't know well. Traffic feature is nice but we don't have alot of issues with that in our area so it rarely comes into play. Widescreen makes everything very easy to see. Very easy to use. We purchased a Garmin friction mount for the dash to avoid any tell-tale suction cup marks on the windshield. Love this accessory. Works great. Also picked up a generic case for storage which I would recommend to protect your investment. Haven't had a lot of exposure to other brands but very pleased with Garmin thus far.

One of the main things that I was looking for in a GPS was one that would be simple to program and use and the Garmin nuvi 265WT 4.3" Screen GPS Navigation is very easy to use. I bought the GPS for my next vacation to help me get around city streets. In the mean time, I have been practicing with it on routes that I am already familiar with. It doesn't always give the best routes to take. It has taken me to some remote, round-about ways and through traffic, but it will get you to where you are going. And, that is important if you are in unfamiliar areas. I like the way it tells you in advance which way to turn, calls off the name of the street, and then when you approach the turn, tells you again. You have plenty of warning in advance of all turns to take. I like the larger screen, and I am glad that I paid a little more for it. It shows how fast you are going, and also gives the speed limit of where you are at. If you miss your turn, it will quickly recalculate and get you going again in the right direction, so it would seem to be impossible to get lost with it. With a touch of the finger you can scroll the map and see your planned route. The street names come up before you approach them and makes it easy to know where you are going. Overall, I am very pleased with it, and would recommend it to others.

I first purchased the Nuvi 255w in December. My husband and I found that one so useful that we decided to get this one too (we were constantly fighting over the other one!) As far as the navigation goes, the Nuvi products are great. Very easy to use and understand w/o having to read an entire book before hand. The traffic feature, however, is a different story. No where did it indicate (prior to purchase) that the traffic only works when the unit is plugged in. The traffic icon doesn't even appear when using battery power. The other issue w/ the traffic feature is that you have to press the icon to find out where the traffic is. That wouldn't be so bad if it were as simple as one touch, but it's two touches then two more to go back to the navigation screen. I feel like my attention is drawn away from the road too much when using the traffic feature. Otherwise, It's a great little GPS.

I bought the 265WT a few weeks ago..I loved it but 3 or 4 times the screen turned black & blue..I emailed Garmin twice and they had no idea why and no solution..I called Garmin twice ,both times told there would be a 30+ minute wait.The 2nd time I but it on speaker and got cut off after 25 minutes..Wal Mart only give you 15 days to return a GPS so I couldn't wait for Garmin to help me so I returned it and ordered another 265WT..Like the unit but Garmin's service / support was awful.
