This was installed in our apartment last month when our previous dishwasher had failed. This is the best dishwasher I have used in my lifetime. I can't imagine how well they designed this product. So much space and height in both the bottom and top rack. Makes it super easy to load it can accommodate lot of dishes the way it is so smartly designed. I feel GE products have been very reliable in my experience. Best America brand product.
This appliance had been placed in a new model home which we purchased from the owner, never used. The dishwasher worked well at first, very happy with the product. However, after 1 year, both metal brackets on the spinning arm fell off. Pods also do not work well with this dishwasher, will leave grime all over dishes. After 2 years we have to move the dishwasher out every month as the pipes are clogged (I rinse dishes prior to putting them in), then the spinning arm was caught by the metal heating tubes and melted. All of our home appliances are GE but within the last year our appliances have had issues. They just don't make them like they used to.
I hadn't been looking to replace our 16 year old Maytag but the electric panel stopped working so we needed to. I ordered this GE dishwasher to match the GE oven we purchased last year. I am not happy with the cheap plastic interior and front handle. I do not like the set up of the interior; the prongs feel like there was no thought put into their placement with too much space for plate slots and not enough for bowls to fit all the way in. Also, the front rack corners are cut off (no 90 degree angle) so you lose the corner spaces. The top rack spaces are some wide that smaller items can fall through. Lower rack does not slide easily and gets stuck every time we need to slide it in. Admittedly, i chose the least expensive model, and there wasn't one in stock so I didn't see it in person. Regretting this purchase and wishing I had either bumped up in price range or gone with another brand. It's noisier than my 16 year one was. Cycles seem long at 3 hours with the additional drying time. Sure don't make appliances like they used to, and I'm only 48.
All is going great after one year, no problems. I did need someone to come out once before 1 yr. And it was very fast and the reason was due to how it was installed and it fell off a tile after months of working and vibration so it was uneven on the floor leaking water on the floor, in the corner that went down. It was an installation issue not a dishwasher issue. I got that leg of the diswasher on an even surface again and it's working great.
This dishwasher is as basic as they come. I will start with the positive comments. The dishwasher is attractive in appearance and washes dishes. The installers were polite and professional. There you go, all of the good. Now, the rest of the story. It is very cheaply made, the top rack is not conveniently spaced for different sized dishes and cups and tops, it has an unpleasant odor which I thought was a food issue however it is not, the "drying" options do NOT dry well and the dishwasher is loud. We purchased this without looking at it because our current appliances are GE and we love them so why not just replace them with GE appliances, right? We chose a simple basic model because we never really used the extra features on the previous dishwasher. I would not purchase this model for all of the reasons I listed. Spend the extra money and get something of better quality. This was an unfortunate mistake.
