I got this for my nine year old and thought it would be a good alternative to one of the $100 plus products in the event she dropped it or it broke somehow - but it isn't if it doesn't work properly. The tablet has outdated software that is not updateable. The tablet has contradictory OS information on the hard copy users manual and the e-version loaded on the tablet itself. Can't even complete registration - & I work on computers all day long, so this is not a 'user error'. So disgusted. Will not buy any other electronics items from WM ever again. DONE!

Great value for the money. The only item that was an issue - I had to reformat my SD card (under Linux) to FAT32 in order for the reader to recognize it. After that, my Linux-based Calibre had no problem finding and transferring books to the reader's SD card.

The instructions with the ereader fall very short. But if you go online and read reviews on how to operate the reader you will find that it works very well for the price. Sure it has short comings as to wifi and pictures, but it is primarily an ereader which it does very well. I am very happy with my purchase. Just remember that it is an ereader not a tablet.

I purchased this item for my child for Christmas. But I did open the box and charge the unit to make sure that it worked. Since I had read so many negative reviews about this product not turning on out of the box. My husband and I played with it for a little while to learn how to use it. I must admit the directions were very confusing and not very detailed. But once we figured out the square in the middle of the left and right buttons was the mouse pad, our thoughts about this product greatly improved. We were able to read the books. The print was large enough to see clearly. When you rotate the unit you can read more of the text from a page when held in the vertical position, than the horizontal position. Many of the free books are famous books that you had to read in school. I was impressed with the books that were included free on the unit. I could connect to the internet. Each time I would turn the unit off and back on, I would have to reconnect to the wireless router. But the password for the router was saved, so connecting to the internet was easy. Once I connected to the internet, the page said that the version that was in use is about to expire. This concerns me a little, but I will not worry about it until it will no longer connect to the internet. Since you can not upgrade the internet browser on this unit. The page loaded a little slow when compared to what people are used to with a brand new device. But you could connect and browse with no problem. We could not stream any videos from YouTube to this device because there is no flash player, but my child has a computer if he wants to stream videos, so this was not a deal breaker for me. My husband and I added a two videos that we own to a SD card to see if the video player worked. One worked and the other did not work. But my husband will convert any videos that my child wants to keep on this unit to the correct format, so that they will play. I did not download any music to try out the music player, but the sound from the video was just fine for my child’s needs. We bought a 16GB SD card to add movies, music and books to. I know that is not a lot of space. But we will be able to download a few movies and a few of my child’s favorite television shows that he will be able to watch if he is away from his computer. Over all I would say that what this device does you can not beat the price. I paid $29 for this product and I can connect to the internet, watch videos and listen to audio that are stored on a SD card or the unit, and read books. I am sure in a few years we will upgrade this device and find my child a better device that gives him a few more options for use (one that will allow games to be played on it). If this product is still working when we replace it, I will keep it for myself or hand it down to my mother to read books from.
