So far so good....thing sounds great. I use it with my acoustic guitar and mic and thus far pretty impressed with the sound for the size, the overall ease of setting it up, and features. The app is not as user friendly as it could be, but doable, the effect on the app are better than I expected. I haven't used it yet in frontvof a crowd or in a room bigger than my living room, but so far, seems like it has plenty of volume and headroom for ots size and what it is. Bluetooth good to about 25 or 30 feet, and I like that it can play through while I play and sing with it. Wish it would link up with my EON 712s and could use the JBL connect app, but otherwise, so far, a big thumbs up from me. Should come wit a JBL tshirt, 3x, hint hint.
The EON One Compact shines when it comes to sound quality, and that's where the emphasis should be. Other nice features: portability, socket for speaker stand, Bluetooth input, and phantom power. Incidentally, these last two features are why I chose the Eon Compact over the Roland Street Cube EX. Where the EON falls short: like other reviewers, I struggle to use the controls which use red light to indicate their position. I presume a dial that is 1/2 lit is at 50% of its range, but it's by no means obvious, and having no physical minimum or maximum position makes it doubly challenging. Yes, I am old school - give me a knob that goes from 1 to 10 (or 11) with a hard stop at the low and high ends. I also am a bit challenged by the mixing flexibility. The unit has separate controls for volume, bass, treble, and reverb. A "channel" button lets you scroll through each of the channels, and the one you select is indicated by a red light. You select the channel you want, then make the appropriate adjustments. If you push the channel button until all channels are lit up, the bass, treble, volume, and reverb controls become volume controls that let you mix the volume of each channel. It takes a while to get used to, and I think I'd prefer to adjust the mix with a single volume control for each channel. One thing I am struggling with and I plan to reach out to JBL is whether I can connect a personal monitor to let me hear what's going on in the mix. To prevent feedback, the EON has to be at your side or in front of you, which makes it difficult to hear your own singing and playing. If you connect headphones it disconnects the speakers. There is a line-out jack that the manual says lets you hook up two or more EON Compact for larger venues. I would like to connect just a small mic stand-mounted monitor. I have run a cable from the line out jack into a small powered speaker and there was a delay between the main speaker and monitor that made it impossible to use. I don't consider these issues to be deal-breakers, just the difference between a four-star and five-star review.
After scrutinizing over the JBL EON One Compact with several other brands, we are glad to have added these speakers to our sound arsenal. Solid battery performance. Good safe on/off button (in contrast to others' opinions). Good weight for transportation---get a gig bag for it to save on the wear and tear. The sound levels at the rated mHZ was spot-on...enough to lift the party at most venues sans the wires and limits.
I've been using this for wedding ceremonies for the past few years. I love how long the battery lasts, and that I can plug in two mic receivers along with a guitar or keyboard, which other products like the EV Everse 8 cannot do, plus music via an aux or bluetooth. When music mode is used, the LF extension is pretty good (though the max SPL is limited). It's been very reliable for me (only one one occasion did I have the speaker dropout when I was connecting the app). It allows me to have a truly wireless ceremony system
I've had this now for several months. At first I thought it was the best thing since slice bread - love the sound for such a small unit. Unfortunately it does crazy things like shuts down in the middle of songs and has to be rebooted. Sometimes when it's plugged in it will simply show red and shut itself down, needing to be rebooted again and again until it finally figures out that it's plugged in. This software is most likely to blame - it badly needs fixes for these problems because the sound blows away the competition.
