Leapfrog My Pal Violet

Please note that if your child has a unique name not listed in the leapfrog database That Violet will not accept the child name. My granddaughter is so upset that Violet says her two sisters name, but not her name. I was under the impression that Violet and Scout would accept any name that you input into their system. I didnt know about a leapfrog database of names and that they are not accepting anymore names into the database. I found out that is a complaint that everyone has about regarding Violet and Scout. So what parent wants to be told to find a nickname as a substitute for the name of your child. I am so disappointed with this toy, now I regret buying it for the reason stated above. I would love it if leapfrog would fix this problem and not use a database of a few selected names. I want Violet and Scout to be programmed to accept any name uploaded into the app.

Wonderful toy for very young children. My son loved that he could work it by himself. And so do I! Many different sayings and songs. And they say you can load more, but I have not tried that yet.

I bought Violet for my daughter back in 2009 for her first birthday and she played with it for several years, mostly because she like customizing the songs and such. We held on to it because we figured we'd have another child soon (even though we didn't until our daughter was 6). Now with another daughter, our baby loves it and it still works perfectly. I didn't think it could possible last this many years but it has and I couldn't be any happier with my purchase.

I gave this gift to a child whose mom is not what you call, tech savvy. She was able to teach the puppy Josie's name, favorite color and tell her Spinach is yummy. She won't eat spinach and her mom is using the puppy to encourage her to try it! Tricky Mom!

My daughter is 4 months and of course I need to get sometime for Christmas even though I believe that she is too young; she loves the puppy and she turn and pay more attention when the puppy call her by her name
