Mega Bloks Swing & Slide Safari

My son just started kindergarten this year and will be turning 5 around Thanksgiving time. He has loved MEGA BLOCKS since he was a baby and this MEGA BLOKS® Swing & Slide Safari did not disappoint! The set comes in bright fun playful refreshing colors like you would find in a real jungle! The Swing & Slide Safari play set has 59 pieces and includes an array of different size and shaped blocks in greens, blues, and browns and also includes a safari vehicle and 4 block buddies. There is a giraffe, an elephant, a monkey and a cute little safari explorer guy. The directions that come with the set are pretty good and easy to understand with full color pics for each step. The only issue we really had was attaching the swing properly. It does not stay snapped in very well, especially when it is swinging back and forth, it always wants to pop out. Other than that, my son has had a ton of fun playing and building with this set! Even though he is older now and likes smaller blocks too now, he still enjoys his MEGA BLOKS very much! It is great that this can be combined with any other MEGA BLOKS blocks since they all fit together! This set really helps him use his imagination and role play with the different characters included with the set. IT is also a great way for kids to learn about the environment and habitat of the safari and what kind of animals live in the jungle! I picked this item for my 1 year old son, but was surprised by how much my almost 6 year old daughter loved it too. The colors are so bright and there are so many interesting pieces with moving parts. My son loves the slide and the little safari car and trying to fit the people and animals into it. My daughter - who is a big fan of the bigger-kid (super small) blocks - loved showing her brother how to make different "structures" (as she calls them - ha!) and then, of course, getting a little bit weepy when he would inevitably destroy them. (If you have a 5 year old, you know what I mean!). They both love playing with this in the bath too. I received this for free but I promise you, I would have paid full price for it and am looking to buy the others in the set now. It is one of the cutest building sets we own - and we have a ton! My three kids of various ages love playing with this together. What I love is that it appeals to both boys AND girls. And the little human character and the little car have had many adventures all over the house. And the monkey has even played with clay! They love to build towers and parks and jungles together. Mattel's Safari Mega Blocks has been the best toy for my kids. They are learning to play together and using their imaginations. This toy is durable and really suitable for just about any age range, though I would not recommend for under 1 year. The only problem I have with this toy is that some of the pieces really don't fit well and most of them won't stay together. All in all my kids love this toy and have been happily playing and laughing since we got it. I definitely recommend this toy for those of you who have little monkeys or for those with very curious little minds! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I received this item about a month ago but didn't really want to play with it until my daughters 5 birthday since she already had mega blocks. She loved putting it together her and her 9 year old sister. They used there Barbies as well to play with. I really loved this safari and the girls were able to use there old mega blocks to add to this one. I will also be taking it to work with me for my students to play with.
