Feels solid, fairly easy to setup. Only problem was it was missing one of the two screws holding the motor in place. Couldn?t wait for Monday to call them and have them ship another so just had to live with one screw which isn?t really holding it in place. Prob won?t impact performance, I hope!??? Can?t do anything about it now since I?d need to take apart the top to get to that part? kinda annoyed. Otherwise, desk legs seemed solid.
I got this desk frame to hold a huge (74 by 42 inch) kitchen island I bought from the IKEA scratch-and-dent section. It has worked out wonderfully. I have no issues with wobble at the normal sit or standing height at all and it feels completely sturdy.
I grabbed this as I was tired of sitting all day, I went a non standard method for my top and took the frame of my IKEA Galant (larger glass top desk) and mounted that to this frame with some nuts and bolts after a little drilling in the IKEA frame - works awesome after some double sided tape to mount the controller - now I can adjust up and down with little issue depending on my mood. Attached photo is at its full height - way higher than I will ever need but gives you an idea
I adapted an old ikea glass top desk pretty easily by bolting the lift frame to the old desk's steel support frame. The desk raises and lowers quickly and with only a slight hum. At my standing height, the stability is good, front to back is rock solid, side to side there is a slight shimmy if I am typing hard, but I can tolerate this. At seated height it is more solid that the desk was originally. I used to use one of those rigs that sit on top of the desk and pop up (not monoprice's but they sell a similar model), this solution is much better, more solid and with better range of motion. The safety mechanism was tested early on also, I was lowering the desk and I had a laptop projecting from a nearby table which the desk hit, but it stopped immediately with little pressure. My only real complaint is the control unlock procedure which makes you hold a particular button for 3 seconds, this is irritating.
So far the desk is great. It's as sturdy as the much more expensive ones at my office, which is great. My only concern is the control panel; A) it locks itself at all times so you have to do a long-press to awaken/unlock every time you want to move the desk and this is annoying, and B) the capacitive touch screen is fancy but I'm worried it will not outlast the motors. Time will tell, but I'd prefer more analog controls for durability. Although this may not be possible with the programmable height settings... Overall, it works well and is exactly as described. Another good product from Monoprice.
