Storage onions are typically quite pungent, and sweet onions do not store well. Our Sweet Sandwich variety offers the best of both types; it is fairly pungent at harvest, yet becomes milder in storage. Large, yellow globe shape. Good storage variety for Northern areas. Long day onions grow better in Northern states because they need 14 to 16 hours of daylight to bulb satisfactorily. Long day varieties generally have a more pungent flavor than short day.
