[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product free from weeSpring parent panel. I watch my 8 month old grandson Monday thru Friday so I had ample time to try this product. He had been using the same nipple in slow flow so this wasn't a big change for him. He was easier to satisfy with the fast flow nipple. Since he's an older baby now, he wants more milk at once. This nipple was perfect for him.
My son has been on a slow flow nipple his whole life so he spluttered a bit with this fast flow nipple. Given more time, I feel that he may have been able to get used to it and like it, but he's 12 months now and is transitioning to a sippy cup. It is great to have options out there for other babes who prefer fast flow! Thanks to the weeSpring Parent Panel for letting us try these!
Our 10-month-old EBF kiddo had some gut-wrenching reflux issues early on so we tried a few and found one bottle brand that didn't make him suffer (we did not initially try Philips Avent) and we send those – and only those – to daycare and use them whenever we bottle-feed at home. Since he has one bottle and nipple type he's used to, when I received the Philips Avent Fast Flow Nipple and bottle from the weeSpring Parent Panel we weren't sure how he would take to a different bottle, nipple, and flow rate. Well, we certainly had no reason to worry, and now we have a new set of bottles we can alternate in the rotation! Pros: The bottles and nipples were easy to clean and dry, bottle has a wide enough opening to pour expressed milk into, and baby could easily hold the full-size bottle and feed himself with no problem. The first time we put one down for him he grabbed for it, picked it up, and started sucking away with no hesitation at all. He's a pretty strong sucker, so he was getting a LOT of milk at once but had no problems with gagging or choking and he it down at a pace he was happy with. Reflux isn't such an issue for him anymore, but we didn't notice any reflux, gas, or tummy-upset after feeding from these bottles/nipples – I can't say they helped but they certainly didn't create any problems for us. Cons: the flow rate is pretty fast. This was fine for our little guy at 10 months old, but I'm not sure he would have been able to handle so much, so fast, at 6 months old without choking a bit. Second, although the opening is wide, it's way easier to pour thawed milk into our other bottles; formula would probably be fine, but the milk bags can get a little tricky with a hungry baby on-hand. Also (and this is a minor gripe) as he lifted the bottle up to drink from it and put it down, milk kept spraying into his face – I'm guessing because of the bigger holes – and it dripped a bit if he turned the bottle upside-down and sprayed when dropped on the floor. He obviously didn't mind, but I wasn't crazy about the milk mess since our other bottles are pretty impervious to being flung around while he self-feeds. In general, I will definitely keep using these bottles and nipples and will happily send them into the daycare rotation, especially because I don't have to clean up any possible milk-spray mess! Thanks, weeSpring, for a new feeding option!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These new natural nipples and bottles are the bomb! I was previously using a popular brand but was SO tired of washing so many little extra parts so when these Philips bottles and nipples arrived at my doorstep I did a little happy mommy dance. I took them straight out of the package, washed them, fixed my 11 month old a bottle and he loved it! He had zero problems with switching to this nipple style. Wish I had them 6 months ago when we had to switch from breast because these would have been a tremendous help. I was given this bottle nipple to try as part of the weeSpring Parent Panel and I am in looooove!
I was so excited Mr. Jonathan and I were selected by Weespring Parent Panel to test and review the Philips Avent natural bottles & fast flow nipples for free. Review: I've tested so many bottles/nipples over the years with 4 babies and I've got to say I think I like these the most. Why? Well, first of all, the bottle holds 11 oz. but I think you could get 12 if you really wanted to. I would have to say that the Airflex design really helped him not be so gassy after feeding and the nipple didn't collapse on him like a lot of others we have tried. With so many bottles out there, and the ones we've tried with him, he hates holding his bottle. These seem to have more of an ergonomic fit for his hand although he still hates holding the bottle himself. These are a must have for a baby 6+ months and I highly recommend them!
