Bought this product for less messy grooming sessions. It indeed captures 90% of the hairs as advertise, but cleaning the vacuum chamber is a lot of work. The hair sticks to the plastic interiors of the vacuum chamber and even with the brushes provided it is difficult to clean. If you are not careful, you may make more mess while cleaning the vacuum chamber.

Reviewing after 4 beard trims. Beard is trimmed once or twice a week. 5 - 6mm length. The new vacuum trimmer is better than the older model in many ways. Takes less time to get the same trim. The vacuum performance is much improved. Likely collects 90% of the clippings. (Dropped one star for performance and design. Philips needs a goal of 99.9% collected.) Makes less noise. Old model trim setting of 6mm is the same as 5mm on the new model. No hair pulling, even when using just the precision trimmer. Emptying the vacuum collection container requires the removal of the plastic trimming level guide and the precision cutting head. Guessing these will some day get dropped, causing damage that will impact the trimmers cutting capability. No star reductions, just an observation.

good trimmer, good performance, i'm not big on the cone design, it tends to slip my hand if i don't hold it right due to it's sleek design, slim and the material is also non-porous so it's a bit slippery. not a big deal, overall i'd say its fine. just could be more non-slip material. i love the add-ons, they help keep my beard edges neatly trimmed, and under my nose as well. the previous model 4200 wasn't so easy to use under the nose. i love that i can run them under the water to clean them out. the main trimmer head is a breeze to clean, no need to open just run under the tap. the hair chamber is a new design compared with the 4200s, its more solid and won't break as easily (door lock broke in 1st month with model 4200). although it would be great if it were possible to rinse it with water. They supply a little brush and a Q-tip swab for tougher hairs to clean out. Maybe use an air can to clean it out. i don't like that there is no lcd display for battery level. it was a great thing to have on the 4200 models Overall i recommend this 7100 model, it's a breeze to use ever day or few days to keep beard neatly trimmed and the charge lasts a long time (2 months + since 1st initial charge).

This device is not my first trimmer from Philips Norelco brand. My original one was a thousand times better than what I have right now. Number 1: the trimmer assembly is very difficult to put on and easy to bend or break two thin plastic latches. Number 2: Tremendous difficult to clean due lack of "door" to open and clean like my old one. Number 3: It does not trim much closer than my old one. I have to use a different trimmer to make closer and clean. I really unhappy with this trimmer and will see for new one.
