I agree with a lot of the poorer reviews I've read. I used to love the cocktail peanut by planters. But anymore I can't tell if I bought a can of dry roasted peanuts or greasy cocktail peanuts. We were out of the country for a year in 2024. All the regular brands didn't hold a a candle to Planter's quality. It was so surprising to get back in the US to be able to buy Planter's cocktail peanuts and find them less desirable than the generic. At first I thought it was me. Now I know they no longer have good quality control.
I did what I always do... open a fresh can... pour a few into a small bowl to nibble on as I decide if I'm going to want to put a few in my ice cream later... put a few in my mouth and spit them out... it was like licking a salt block, the kind we use for cattle. Thought to myself... this isn't right... tried some out of the can... same... had 3 others taste them... 100000% salt. Not sure if the whole batch was bad or I just got the last of the batch where all the salt settles. Can marking 10MAR27, 2221 X3
I've purchased Planters salted peanuts for literally YEARS. They used to be delicious. Until they weren't. Which was apparently a year or so ago, because I kept thinking...."well, maybe I didn't get the freshest can this time...." After about six or seven purchases of subpar quality, I realize IT'S NOT ME. It's the peanuts. I'm guessing this is just another example of an amazing product sacrificed on the altar of the bottom line.
You say salted nuts but there is only 100 mg of salt in the whole bag. You can't taste the salt. When I buy salted nuts I want salt on my nuts. Quit trying to dictate what is good for me or your trying to save money by reducing salt. I don't want you to e-mail any promotional information to me that doesn't address my complaint
i grew up eating these from the big cans. started when i was six with grandpa, sitting on his lap in the recliner watching andy griffith. he died a few years ago and i decided after a few years to start this tradition with my own youngins. in the last year or so id say they changed something. i thought maybe it was a batch thing so i bought some more. not the same. too dry. no salt. id gladly pay double what they want for the big can if it means i can have the old recipe back. all good things must come to an end i guess. these were the only salted peanuts i liked. and i HATE dry roasted.
