Pride of Barbados will decompose slower than the leaf litter due to their denser composition. To your microfauna, they provide a buffet since springtails and isopods eat decaying plant matter and fungi. Keeping your microfauna populations thriving helps decrease unwanted visitors like mites. For your inhabitants, they make obstacles and visual barriers which can decrease aggression. If your inhabitants are frogs and you raise tadpoles, these can be used to create a tannin rich environment for the tads and a place to snack.
