I like this hdmi cable tester to recognize immediately if the cable faulty or not. It save lot of time during trouble shooting the problem. I use this tool in my work as audio visual technician.
A decent little tester, that does what it supposed to do. Gave it only 4 stars because the manual is bad, really bad. Poor translation, difficult to understand, almost funny it is so bad. But really my biggest issue was that in testing one of my cables I got the "PASS" led lighted, but also four flashing channel LEDs. There was no documentation in the manual as to what the flashing channel LEDs indicated. The manual only mentions the channel LEDs as ON or OFF. I left a question here and on the Pyle website. The question here was answered correctly, and the reply from Pyle confirmed, and I quote from Pyle "not a solid connection meaning either a fray or loose solder". Sounds like the same guy that wrote the manual:)
Works very well. Also testing of very long cable worked very well (after I realized that I had to plug the cable in the MAIN socket of the device) in combination with the small remote device.
I recently used it to test two 100 foot HDMI cables that were install in a project that were giving intermittent video at the display. I connected to the first one and it tested good. Then I unplugged the cable while battery power was still on and connected to the second cable. It tested bad. I returned to the first cable -- it tested bad also. I pushed the TEST button and again BOTH cables tested bad. Eventually I tried powering down the tester and waiting one minute to power it up. Each time I did that each cable tested good. If I tested the cable and then push the test button it would ALWAYS fail the cable.. Sometimes it would report a short, other times an open. On shorter cables (3 foot) this behavior does not happen.
Simple but works great.. was the biggest help when I had to repair an hdmi end connector. I don't know why anyone would need to spend a fortune on a fancier one unless they needed to know bandwidth.
