The last set I purchased didn't last 2 months before holes appeared. Will not buy another foil razor from Remington
I have been using Remington razors for many, many, years. I liked the foil design as it gave a pretty close shave and did it quickly. Single and double foil designs weren't great, but the tri-foil gave a *great* shave. The trusty Tri-foil 3050 that I bought back in 2002 is long out of production and its battery is finally starting to fail to hold a charge, so I started looking into replacing it. The Remington Pivot & Flex Tri-Foil 5750 with which I replaced it has made me appreciate the qualities I first loved in my old razor. The 5750 gives a close shave both on and off cord. Its battery, after the initial 24 hour charge, lasts for 2+ weeks of shaves before you have to plug it in again, but if you would rather keep it plugged in between shaves you don't have to worry about your battery life quickly degrading. The shave is close and smooth. *I* prefer the foil experience (of lift and clip) over the rotary experience (rip and tear), but different faces provide different feels. Every man needs to decide for himself which he prefers...scrape, scrape, scrape, lift and clip, or lawn mower...as none are for every man. The shaver cleans quickly, both dry and with a little water running over the foils. Keep in mind, however, that this is NOT a wet/dry shaver so don't use it in the shower! A plus, and minus, are the replaceable foils and screen. This means that you can replace the cutters and the protective screen when (not if, but when) they begin to wear out. Remington suggests replacing both every 6 months. I could wait a full year with my old shaver. I'll have to see if that is the case here or not. You also need to be careful with the thin screen as it can be damaged if you aren't...and you don't want to use a damaged screen, "Ouch!" The foils and screen are expensive, too. Don't poke at it, don't drop it, don't even press down hard on your face. I haven't had the 5750 very long, so problems may crop up in the future. OTOH, it seems solidly built and I've had a good 10 year experience with the previous model, so I have high hopes for the 5750.
I am very satisfied the the shaver. It gives a good shave, and is comfortable to use. It's only con is that the foil cutters seem that they will be unfriendly to change.
I have used the MS3 series for many years. This design is very poor compared with the old MS3.
close shave, fragile foil
