Road Runner Premium Blend Ice Melt,12lb Jug

I am a 45 year old that has spread various ice melt products a couple times a year for the last 20 years. A few times a winter in our climate precipitation freezes then melts within 4 days. This product contains pieces of salt that remind me of those that were spread by municipalities in the 1980's. There were many chunks the size of a bouncy ball that required a lot of shaking to break up small enough to pass through the slots in the lid. Before a snow fall, I spread the entire container over a mostly level concrete 2 car parking area (approximately 500 sq ft). After the snow fell, there were several areas with scattered 6 inch melted circles with ice between them. Although not all the ice was melted during the inclement weather, there were still salt rocks over a week after the ice and snow was gone. Next time, I will purchase a product with smaller particles. In my experience, the best product has been Road Runner Ice Melt with blue particles about the size of a flattened pea.

Not Concrete Safe!!! Do Not use on your driveway, sidewalks, or walk up to your house!!! Thankfully I sprinkle just a small strip of it to get from the road to my front door. It didn't melt or disintegrate like a lot of the pellets do. It did melt the ice, but I noticed it was starting to eat the concrete and it was starting to get black under it. I had to shop vac it up, trying to sweep it up was impossible. Then hosed off the areas it was on. Returning!!!

It's ok, but they keep substituting it for a 35lb bucket of similar product that costs half as much per pound. That's when I order as an in stock item for pick up! They give me a chance to cancel, but the snow and ice are coming whether I accept the rip off or not. The product does work well, but no better than the cheaper item.

The product worked really well. I like the screw on cap and the fact I can dump it into a spreader or you can lift the flap and it has a separate built-in spreader so that you can use the jug itself. Ice melts really fast. This works great for small areas.
