Doesn't work. My toddler just rips them off and goes about her business getting into everything...
This is a basic problem that seems flimsy, but is actually just very flexible plastic. I was surprised that the plastic could bend as much as it did without breaking. That is a good sign that at the very least it is a durable and strong product, for the short time that I've had it is. I think there might be one flaw with the design in that it anticipates that you need the dexterity to push in two tabs and then slide the lock off of the product; however, you really only need to push in one tab (the side without the longer lock piece) and pull on the plastic part enough that it will slide out of the lock. I guess that would be the negative of having such a flexible material. You would need a toddler to probably be strong enough to still push the tab in, but nonetheless I still found that it could be opened without pushing in both tabs and fully unlocking both sides. Something to consider if you have older siblings.
I have a toddler who loves to "help" around the house and discover all of the things in our cabinets so this purchase was a must. I really love how easy these were to affix to the cabinets and how they are not a permanent fixture (as we are renting while we are out of state) so they cause no damage to the cabinets themselves. They are easy enough to open too when you need to use the cabinet. My main recommendation would be to MAKE SURE your cabinets have knobs otherwise these will not work!!! You'd be surprised at how many cabinets don't!
These give you peace of mind. Our baby can finally walk and does not need or want our full time attention. There is freedom in that thought except now all I can think about are the dangers lurking around every corner. One of the biggest worries are the things in the cabinets such as cleaners and chemicals. My husband installed two different cabinet locks to keep the baby out and they have proven difficult for the adults to operate ... and I won't even talk about the pain they were to install. These were easy least! No install ... just push the buttons, slide the bracket down and just like that, done! Easy to get off and on and confident that our child can not unlock them. Thank you Safety 1st!
I use the slide locks for my cabinets under my kitchen sink, it's where i store all my cleaning supplies, my busy 1 yr old was getting into everything and I purchased these locks and installed in seconds. I thought I was gonna have a difficult time myself with opening and relocking my cabinets also I have round knobs and not square handles like they picture and they work perfectly I did not have a problem at all it's super easy and it's protecting my little one. Everyone with children needs these safety locks!
