SanDisk Extreme Portable - Solid state drive - 1 TB - external (portable) - USB 3.1 Gen 2

SSD stopped from mounting after few months and all my important data could not be retrieved, product description is misguiding. I dont have the backup of data and this is a scary situation for me as it was my years of data that i copied from my HDD

I bought 2 of the 500MB in 2021. In 2023, just after 2 years, it just decided not to work on my computer anymore or my laptop. very disappointed. I only used it initial to backup my photos and hardly ever use it after that. It just sit there on my shelf and just decided not to work. This was the first time I ever purchase an external SSD drive and now, I have lost all confident on this product. I think the warranty was for 2 years. That is just shut for me. Can access my photos and data on both of my SSDs.

Purchased a 4tb SanDisk Extreme and partitioned it into 2-2tb. Within a year, I was unable to access the Primary partition and if not for my recovery software, I would have lost my entire home video collection. The technology for SSD long-term but frequently accessed files just isn't there yet for consumers to put their trust in. Although fast and easily recognized by PCs, the reliability is worrisome.

Works well and reliable! We use this our tech side and it is great for moving data over and it is handy having some of our tech tools on hand!

Whoever thought it was a good idea to ship a 6" USB-C cable with an external SSD such that it is impossible to have the drive well-supported without a shelf or bolting it to the PC case - I hope you made that money saving $0.50 per shipment. Incredibly poor decision to ship this with the shortest ever manufactured USB-C cable. On top of that, the drive just loves to disconnect a few seconds into any kind of data transfer. How wonderful. If anyone responds to this - do not even think about mentioning driver updates. I swear. Save your money. Buy something that works.
