I put it on a good battery, and after 15 min. it was charging at 15.85 Volts. This voltage is much too high. It should be around 14.5V tops. The battery was starting to "boil"........not good !! Schumacher QC has gone the way of most of the other manufacturers.
this charger beats them automatic chargers hands down!! I had bought several of the automatics but they don't hold up well! so I wanted a old school type and this one is just plug in and choose which setting you want either 2/10/50 amp engine boost! its made of all metal construction and transformer no switching power supply junk, so if you want a good serious charger this is it!! ;)
I have used it twice and it seems to work just as it should. The construction is sturdy and the battery clips are well made. It is heavier than my old charger of the same capacity. I like heavy.
We bought a Schumacher Charger SE-1052 after borrowing one from a neighbor. So convenient - its here when we need it. My husband is not home today and I need to use it on my car. Can I follow the directions in my Toyota Owners Manual and do I plug it in first or after connecting the cables (positive red-to-red first). i'll use the 10 fast charge. I don't see that we have a manual. Thank you for a quick reply.
