Sony - Handycam AX53 4K Flash Memory Premium Camcorder - Black

This is my second FDR-AX53 camcorder, my first I bought in 2019 and was happy with it. I needed another second camcorder for multi cam videos. The FDR-AX53 is a great 'run and gun' camcorder, it is also affordable. It is sad Sony have not released an update.

Fine in general with some needs: 1-Missing a pivotal instant AF on/off 2-The tripod mount screw is too far at the front, no balance for the unit 3-The viewfinder is useless and can not be used together with the lcd monitor Could say more but this is an amateur unit and can not ask for more.

We have only had 2 months and it is already not working. Getting error message that it can't write to any media. This is the second Sony that has not performed. This should be covered under warranty since we just bought, but that means we will be without a camera for a while. My iPhone seems to be the only reliable video I can count on. So frustrating!

I purchased this camera to record church services during the COVID crisis. It is very easy to use and has awesome quality video and stills. I would recommend this for excellent quality videos

This camera does more than the average person needs it to do. But the switch to 4K is a must if you broadcast video to your big screen tv or larger size pc screen. It is unacceptable to view blurry footage when the technology exists to view it in a sharp form. That is what 4K gives you. So get rid of the old camcorders and make the switch to 4K. But don't expect to be able to easily transfer this type of footage. It takes a huge amount of memory and requires reconfiguration of the s drive to format the card to transfer the video. However you can film simultaneously in mp4 and 4K and transfer the mp4 with ease. As a young person with children I would only buy a 4K camcorder. Sony makes excellent film equipment because they are in the movie business.
