Swanson Real Food Bone Broth Collagen - Natural Flavor 16.9 oz Powder

I have been taking collagen for years and it is great, so when they were out I tried bone broth collagen. Big mistake. It clumps and will not dissolve in water, coffee, or tea. Which I guess is a good thing because the taste is so bad I couldn 't drink it anyway.

I thought I’d bite the bullet and spend a little more for this after reading the benefits. I had been using their other Collagen for quite a while. But this is impossible to take - it tastes Awful and it clumps really bad, so I eat a chunk of powder, then have a big sip of Mt Dew to wash away the taste. Please tell me how you take this, or I’ll be sending my 2 canisters back!

I like the taste of plain bone broth mixed in hot water. This product does not dissolve well at all, it actually clumps. I purchased this product because the one I usually buy was sold out (gee wonder why?). I would say if you are looking for bone broth, do not buy this product. One star because the taste was just "ok".

I have seen the reviews and experienced myself the distinct taste and tendency to clump. My favorite way to use the unflavored version is with a 4oz of coffee and an ounce of butter or cream and use a magic bullet or similar blender. A great healthy product if you are looking to avoid additives and sweeteners. I've also used the vanilla version and that tastes surprisingly different - I've used it in just water or with some raw eggs blended. It thickens, but tastes like a shake.

After reading so many negative and vague reviews I decided to take this faithfully once a day for 30 days before writing a specific and honest review. I was attracted to this product because: #1- Price ($17 on sale vs $27 on my previous collagen and $34 on powdered bone broth or hours making homemade) #2- The fact that’s it’s collagen plus bone broth. I don’t always have homemade bone broth on hand. And taking collagen plus bone broth separately throughout the day isn’t always convenient and is pricey. The cons- *It smells like a garbage can(no joke). However when I blend it with my morning matcha latte it’s mostly tasteless but does add some extra creaminess. *It does not blend well. I suspect it’s the bone broth. Collagen blends very easily, bone broth powder stays clumpy and gummy unless blended in an actual blender. * It’s doesn’t have the tastelessness of collagen, but it doesn’t have the savory flavor of bone broth. What initially seemed to be a pro now seems like a con. I enjoy how easily collagen peptides blend into drinks by a simple stir, and I enjoy a good cup of bone broth. This is a weird unsatisfying middle ground. *THE BIGGEST CON OF ALL: Its not grass fed or organic and the origin seems a bit sketchy. If it’s batch tested it doesn’t claim to be. I’m a cheap skate where I can be, but I find the amazing benefits of collagen and bone broth to be wayyy too noticeable and important to cheap out on them! THE VERDICT: I bought 2 bottles on sale and I won’t be returning them... However, I don’t think I’ll buy more. I don’t notice any adverse effects since switching to this. My skin and hair are still great. IF Swanson ever decides to make this product grass fed, even while increasing the price, I will buy again in a heartbeat. Though I’d like to also have the option to buy grass fed Swanson collagen peptides and grass fed bone broth separately. Once these bottles run out I’ll be returning to Perfect Supplements for my collagen and bone broth. They batch test everything that they make and only offer organic and grass fed animal products. Please consider offering organic grass fed collagen and/or bone broth, Swanson!
