Thera-Med Back Cold Pack Cold Therapy, Large

I've been using these for a long time and this new design seems like it will last longer. They used to be clear plastic and they would get dried out and the sand would get lumpy. This is plastic and cloth that appears thicker than the old one. It takes a few minutes in the microwave to heat up long enough to get hot and hold the heat and the work great as ice packs. Far better than the gel, which I've had break open making a giant mess. I also like it better than electric heat pads because they seem to be garbage anymore, either made of horrible plastic, or turning off too quickly and then flashing and breaking! These don't have those problems, you'll have to heat them up more frequently but they're not going to short out and burn the house down either!

Don't get this if you're expecting it to stay cold longer than an hour...if you're lucky. I have the medium one that has a Velcro straps for my knee and I LOVE IT. I just thought the large one for my back would be as good. WRONG AGAIN !!! The medium stays cold for several hours but definitely not this one !!!

This is the only back pad I'll ever use. mostly because of it's size as it covers a great area at one time and the flexibility is a plus. The cold lasts a long time and the softer "felt" side is really comfortable and there's little to almost no sweating off the material. I've had 2 back surgeries and ice fairly often and this pad is a major plus in my life. Great to travel with as well as long as you can keep it cold in a small cooler or mini fridge in a hotel.

Bought 2 of these for my mom who had a knee replacement. In the beginning we were constantly filling bags with ice that were awkward and leaked. These get very cold for a long time and the soft gel lays much nicer than the hard ice cubes on her knee.

This stays cold for more than an hour. I start with the less cold side and then switch to the colder side. It's perfect.
